What to Expect
At Spring of Life we feel that it's our responsibility to "clear the way" for you to come to church. We want you to be able to experience the great music, encouraging messages, friendly people and an enjoyable atmosphere. And we know that your first time at a church, any church, brings up some questions. What kind of church is this? What should I wear? What's available for my kids? What should I expect in church? This place contains the answers to our most frequently asked questions.
WHAT KIND OF CHURCH IS THIS?
Spring of Life Christian Church is an independent, non-denominational church. What does that mean? It means:
1. We're locally owned and operated. The buck stops here. Spring of Life sets its own budget, hires its own staff,
its own property and raises its own money.
2. The Bible is our sole authority.
3. We seek to unify believers. Many divisions in the church have more to do with man-made traditions than issues
of doctrine. Spring of Life is an attempt to get back to the simple Christianity of the New Testament.
4. We seek to present the unchanging Word of God in the context of our unique local community.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT IN CHURCH?
You'll enjoy upbeat music and practical messages that help you deal with real life issues.
What you learn on the weekend, you'll be able to use during the week.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
You can wear what you want. We want to avoid the notion that who you are and how you dress on Sunday is different than what happens in the rest of the days of your life. We're more concerned with meeting your real life needs than with what you wear. So, dress casually and you'll fit right in.
WHAT ABOUT MY KIDS?
We know that as a parent you need to be sure that your children are in a safe learning environment. We know that your children are looking for a fun place to learn. So we put a lot of effort into developing terrific children's programs. We've invested our best to make sure that both of these goals are reached. You will see that in the rooms the children and students meet in, and even more in the volunteers who work with your kids. Since the service in the auditorium is geared for adults, children can quickly lose interest in what is going on. We don't want them to distract you from your worship experience and devotion to God during this time. That's why we encourage you to provide the best for your kids by having them attend the age-appropriate class specifically designed for their needs.
What We Believe
FAITH
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God,
infallible in its original manuscripts. The Bible is the final authority for all Christian faith.
We believe in one true, holy God, eternally existing in three persons:
Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe that Jesus Christ is truly God and truly man. Jesus lived a life without sin, was crucified on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, rose from the grave and ascended to heaven where He is our advocate. He shall come to earth once again as victorious Lord.
We believe the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to convict people of sin, live within, guide, lead, instruct and empower believers for godly living and service. The Holy Spirit makes it possible for a believer to lead a life of Christ-like character and to bear fruit.
We believe people were created in the image of God, but are separated from God by sin. Faith in Christ is the one and only way to be reconciled to God. Eternal life is available to anyone and everyone who embraces personal faith in Jesus Christ.
We believe baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper are responses of faith in Jesus Christ that are to be observed by all believers.
We believe the church is composed of all people who have made Jesus the Lord and Savior of their lives. The church is identified locally by ministering congregations.
Baptism is one of the ways God asks us to go public with our faith. Jesus said, "If you acknowledge me before men, I will acknowledge you before my father in heaven."
Baptism is available at Spring of Life every Sunday.
MISSION
"Spring of Life exists to help you...
CHOOSE God, GROW yourself, and SERVE the world."
History
Spring of Life Christian Church began on March 1, 1998 as a daughter church of Central Christian Church of the East Valley, in cooperation with the Arizona Evangelistic Association. Worship services were held at Brimhall Junior High for the first 18 months of the church's life. During that time, the church bought 29 acres of property on the corner of Southern and Crismon in east Mesa.
In November of 1999, services were moved to the brand new Skyline High School, which was just down the street from where the church would build its first permanent home, which opened on December 22, 2002. In January of 2004, four modular buildings were added to handle the educational needs of the growing congregation. Spring of Life's current worship center was opened in February of 2006.
Spring of Life has launched three daughter churches in cooperation with Stadia and a network of local sister congregations. Epic Christian Church opened in February of 2005 in the Johnson Ranch area of Pinal County. Real Life Christian Church, currently meeting at WIlliamsfield High School in east Gilbert, opened October of 2007. The third church, Genesis Christian, opened in February of 2008, using the campus of the former Gilbert Christian Church on Guadalupe just west of Gilbert Road in Gilbert.
