Periodically we offer LINKIT, a one time connection party with opportunities for you to meet leaders and group members. During LINKIT you’ll have time to find others you click with and can arrange to meet for the next Life Group gathering. LINKIT dates are periodically posted.
The New Testament is clear that we need others. None of us are equipped or called to live as loners.
Life Groups are the key to getting connected at Spring Of Life. It is our goal to have every member of our church involved in a Life Group where they can connect with others, care for each other and grow spiritually.
Life Groups come in all sizes and shapes. Some are long-time groups with people who have become friends, others are short-term groups with people trying out group life.
An existing long term group is led by a leader with shared responsibilities within the group. As space becomes available they are able to incorporate new people into the group.
A short term group is led by a HOST, someone willing to step up to HOST a group for a designated period of time, typically 6 weeks. This gives everyone an opportunity to experience group life.
A HOST is someone who:
Has a heart for others
Opens their home
Serves a snack
Turns on a DVD
Bible reading and discussion are geared toward personal life application and transformation rather than intensive Bible teaching. If you are hospitable and willing you can HOST a group for a trial group life experience.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
QUESTION: WHAT DOES A TYPICAL GROUP MEETING INVOLVE?
A typical meeting involves time for food & conversation, watching a DVD, discussion and prayer. Groups have periodic special events such as barbeques or parties in between their studies. Group members support, celebrate and help each other during life changes and challenging times, hospital stays, moving, life changes like births and weddings and more.
WHAT ABOUT CHILDCARE?
For those adults with children, some groups have childcare in the meeting home while some require outside the group arrangements. Every group is different and unique dependent on the circumstances of individuals.
WHAT KIND OF CURRICULUM DO YOU USE?
Since Bible reading and discussion is geared toward personal life application and transformation rather than intensive Bible teaching we utilize DVD curriculum with corresponding questions from valid Christian resources such as Willow Creek, North Pointe and Saddleback churches. All curriculum is from the Spring Of Life Group curriculum library and any other curriculum must be approved before being utilized.
WHAT IF I’VE TRIED A GROUP AND IT WASN’T A GOOD FIT?
We recognize that you may need to visit a few groups before you find the right fit. Our goal is to help you minimize the number of groups you visit and help you settle into a group you can call home as quickly as possible.
WHAT IF THERE ISN’T A GROUP THAT WORKS WITH MY SCHEDULE?
Each group meets at the time and location that works for the majority of people in the group. In time, it is possible that a group could form that would be a better match for those with less common schedules.
WHAT IF I CANNOT ATTEND A GROUP REGULARLY?
Consistent participation is very important for the stability of groups and not all groups are equally able to accommodate irregular attendees. Due to the effect on the group as a whole, a minimum expectation is that individuals should attend more than half of the meetings. Individuals with challenging schedules are encouraged to e-mail Candace Plzak for assistance in looking for a group that may be an appropriate fit.
