Wednesday nights are all about High School students at StudentLife. All 9-12 grade students are invited from 7:00pm-8:30pm for an incredible experience. Every week looks a little different, but you can typically expect some wild fun, something hilarious, awesome music, a chance to learn something about the God who loves you like crazy and a place to connect with other leaders and students who care about you. There is definitely something for everybody at StudentLife, so drop by this week and check us out - you won't want to miss it!
You will notice that there is no specific programming for High School students on Sunday mornings - this is intentional. Across the country, a staggering number of teenagers who had a vibrant and active faith in high school are completely walking away from the church within a couple short years after graduation. We believe the number one cause of this is that we have inadvertently created mini youth-churches within larger churches, and a huge disconnect exists between the two. Therefore, an 18 year-old who graduates from the youth group is not plugged into "big church" in any significant way, and flounders around for a bit before walking away from church altogether.
We dream of something better for our students, and because of that we are passionate about plugging high school students into the life of the larger church. We encourage our students to "Attend One, Serve One" each Sunday morning. This means we challenge them to attend a worship service in the main auditorium (they can sit with their families, or there is a large section where the teens sit together in the front), and to spend the other hour serving somewhere on campus. This means you will see teens serving all over the church on a Sunday from greeting people in the lobby to leading a small group in a preschool room. We believe being involved in this way makes our students much more likely to stay actively engaged in their faith once they have graduated from the high school group.
